Calling all artists
Submission Deadline Extended to March 1, 2024!
Let’s get creative.
Our next public art project is planned for installation in May 2024, and we are looking for artists to partner with!
We want to support local artists like you by featuring your creative designs in our village-wide celebration of art on our mascot, the bulldog. Participating in this project is a great way for artists to gain public recognition; artists will be promoted in both print and social media, at events, and on the streets. Platforms will display your name and can have a QR code to your work or information (if you choose).

Artists wishing to participate will create colored sketches of their designs for a fiberglass bulldog, approximately 28 inches tall, in a sitting position and mounted on a base. Some of our sponsors may be looking for designs that complement their businesses. We would love to support them with your original ideas, and to give you ultimate freedom to invent fun and inspiring designs. We require a color drawing/graphic design to be submitted for review before moving forward.
Completed designs (limited to 3 per artist) need to be submitted to the Bulldog Gallery Committee for the selection process. It is essential that all designs be submitted by February 15, 2024. Any designs submitted after the due date are at risk of not being included. Once your design has been approved by the committee, you will be notified if a sponsor has selected your design.
Up next, you’ll receive a blank Bulldog statue on which you will apply your design. Because Bulldogs will be displayed outdoors during the summer months, we recommend you use durable, weather-safe materials; we will provide you with information in Artists Tips & Tricks, linked to our @bulldogartirv Instagram bio. Bulldogs will be ready to be picked up at Art XO Studio, 9 Main Street, Irvington, in February 2024. Bulldogs must be returned no later than April 15th. Your bulldog art will be on display in Irvington during Spring and Summer 2024. Finally, we will have a live auction of all statues in September 2024. Artists will collect 25% of the auction proceeds, so you have an incentive to give us your best work!
